The Great Outdoors

It started on a whim one year.

No AC, sun blazing, the kiddos had just come back from P.E. And the room was rank! So I took them outside for literature. It was magic! I had struggled with finding a way to get that class to stay on task. Outside was it for them.

And thus a tradition was born. Some classes can't handle the external stimuli, and I do sometimes have an occasional party pooper, but since that one epiphany, I have tried to hold class outside at least 2 days a week....sometimes more when the weather is nice.
There's room to spread out, partners don't interfere with one another, and somehow silent reading is more fun. My only fervent prayer when we are outside is that seagulls don't fly overhead!
